4 Steps To Better Singing - Lessons and Tips

By: Rachel Patterson

Of course performing at karaoke bars is mainly out there to simply have fun, but if you are a constant performer, you will want to improve your singing ability as much as possible. But what do you need to do? What is the best way for you to change from being a singing amateur to a karaoke super-star?

The best way to perfect your singing techniques is practice, practice and practice some more. Finding any opportunity to sing, from singing by yourself in the car or shower to purchasing a number of karaoke CDs and learning them off by heart at home is the perfect way to discover your inner-talent. Karaoke CDs and DVDs are a great tool for this, because not only does it give you the chance to learn your favourite "signature" songs off by heart, but it also will give you the confidence when you need to perform on stage.

Another way to becoming a singing super-star is give yourself the chance to be yourself. Of course the premise of karaoke singing is essentially to imitate a number of famous musicians, but there is nothing against making a song your own. By using the karaoke DVDs, you will eventually stop trying to sing your favourite songs as the artists did, and will inject your own little nuances into the song to make it your own. By doing so, not only will you be able to tackle harder songs in your vocal range, but it will show in your performance, and by making it your own people will begin to realise your talent.

Probably the biggest difference between a singing amateur and a professional is the fact that one will let on when something goes wrong while the other will keep on rocking. When you are up on stage, you are the center of the show for that song. Things might go wrong, too many things to list here, but the secret here is not to let it ruin your performance.

Remember, the things that you believe is noticeable by everyone is really not that obvious to the crowd until you point it out, so by keeping you cool and working through any mistakes that appear will be the best way to keep the show rolling on.

Finally, remember that anyone who does take the stage through karaoke are out there to have fun. Sure some people put a lot more effort into it, but the key is to remember you should be enjoying yourself. If you think it is too hard, or becoming increasingly frustrated with your performances, take a deep breath and remember to have fun. There is nothing written that you cannot entertain the audience while having fun at the same time!
