A Trip to Naples in Italy

The northern party of Italy is all refinement and money. The south is all about the life more of us live on a daily basis with all its warts. If you want to visit the real Italy, there is no more colorful place than mighty Napoli.

You will find that most Napoli guidebooks tell you to veer towards the port side of the city where most tourists sit sipping cappuccino. While the docks are certainly convenient for catching boats to nearby Amalfi, absolutely do not miss out on the grit and charm of this town.

If you are on a diet, Napoli is not going to be the place for you. Also known as Naples, the city has wicked food. Pizza was created here, which should tell you everything. The chocolate shops are sinful as are the pastry ones.

You can purchase handmade Italian cameos in nearly every tourist town surrounding Naples, but they are all made within Napoli itself. Putting on those walking shoes will allow you to visit the many small shops inside of the city that craft the best cameos in the world.

Napoli has always been the black sheep of the family of Italian cities. Hardcore travelers thought this was great because it was actually a tremendous destination. Well, the word is out and Naples is in the middle of a big boom.

One just has to take a look around to realize the true beauty of the city. This is not the sham touristy images on a brochure. These are real people. They hang out drinking cappuccino like they have for hundreds of years. You should just drink it all in as well.

You just may discover that around a rather crooked bend is an older umbrella man crafting the world's finest umbrellas. Or, you may find a shop selling hand crafted wooden toys that have gone unchanged since the world began. Without exploration there can be no true discovery.

You might be hesitant to check out Napoli. Do not be. It is tremendous. One visit and you will be hooked. It is my favorite Italian city. Unlike Rome and other cities, life actually feels like it is not tailored around the almighty tourist dollar.
