Acoustic Guitar - Best Way To Start Learning The Guitar

By: Adrian Fletcher.

Have you ever stopped in your tracks because a stirring piece of acoustic music has attracted your attention. Be it a busker strumming a soulful tune in an alleyway or a blazing, soul-stirring flamenco number that you hear on the radio? The sounds of an acoustic guitar invoke mystery and a feeling of romance for many people. Most people never stop to consider how versatile and wide-ranging acoustic guitars are, but virtually all of them can enjoy the beautiful music they make.

With this said, do you ever wish you could create this music or even play the music of the acoustic greats? Does the doorway of your local music store drag you in like the tractor beam from the Deathstar each time you walk past. Do you love to pick up your favorite guitar, put one hand lovingly around the neck and caress the strings gently with the other, and begin playing a tune? Have you ever thought about how expensive it would be to take lessons? Or how difficult it would be to learn?

You consider how playing an acoustic guitar in front of your friends and family will produce admiration and joy of you newly acquired talent. You dream of having the ability to play like your favorite musician but then shake your head and get back to reality.

Acoustic guitars may seem magical, but, of course there isn?t really any magic in the guitars themselves. It?s the music that they can create that enchants you. It?s just like when you learned to write during childhood. After a while you mastered it and finally you could take on all sorts of writing assignments.

The same principle applies to acoustic guitars. The guitar is just an instrument you use to make music. The learning process of writing is similar to how one learns to play acoustic guitars. Initially, before you learned how to play the guitar, you just tinkered with one at a store, much like scribbling with a pencil. You observed what would happen if you moved your hands a certain way or another. At first, you started to learn how to be comfortable with the guitar then eventually, your fingers learned to move the right way on their own. Very soon, your guitar becomes an extension of your hands, a vehicle through which you express your thoughts.

To someone that has never played a guitar, learning the skills needed to play such a guitar can seem intimidating. The music produced on a guitar can almost seem larger than life. It seems incredible that anyone could produce such amazing sounds from such a simple instrument.

The acoustic guitar's impressiveness can often lead to an attitude that causes people to approach it too delicately. They forget that guitars were meant to be used and that the power behind the music comes from the power the person gives to it.

Believe me, if you make the effort to learn to play an acoustic guitar, you will get the rewards. You will get great fulfillment out of being able to play your favorite songs and you will be able to impress your friends or provide entertainment at various social engagements. So dig out that guitar that has been gathering dust in your attic or purchase one at your local music store and start playing today. You won't look back.
