Body Detox Diet: 5 Steps to a Healthier You

A body detox diet or cleanse is becoming more widely practiced, especially by people who reach the limits of what the medical profession can do for them.

Having learned about the self-healing power of the body, getting out of the way and allowing it to cleanse becomes a priority.

In doing a body detox diet, would a longer one be better?

Ignore any cleansing information that suggests anything less than 3 weeks. You want to allow for a complete cleansing cycle, and begin to form positive new habits.

A healthier you in just 5 key steps:

1 -- Solve the dehydration issue. Most people are dehydrated most of the time. And yet, there is a simple solution. Drink half your weight in fluid ounces each day. Use filtered water for best results. We're talking water here, not sodas or sugary drinks.

2 -- Think of the color green. Green vegetables not only nourish your body, they also are almost always alkaline rather than acid. Eat mostly alkaline foods during your body detox diet rather than acid forming ones.

3 -- Maximize raw organic food. Multiple studies have shown the number of white blood cells rise when cooked food is eaten. This is the same reaction the body has to disease. Help yourself through the cleanse with a body detox diet of raw and organic vegetables.

4 -- You can deepen your cleanse with juice fasting, though it's better if you're in it for the long haul. It's much easier on your body to do the juice fasting once a week than for extended periods. And no sugary juices; use cucumber, celery, and sprouts in the juice.

5 -- Moving beyond a detox diet, well, you need to move. Resistance training with weights is one of the best ways to move your muscles, build strength and eliminate the toxins. But even getting out and walking is great. Get hot and sweaty and help your body eliminate the toxins.
