A body detox diet or cleanse is becoming more widely practiced, especially by people who reach the limits of what the medical profession can do for them. Having learned about the self-healing power of the body, getting out of the way and allowing it to cleanse becomes a priority. Is there a recommended time frame to do a body detox diet? Ignore any cleansing information that suggests anything less than 3 weeks. You want to allow for a complete cleansing cycle, and begin to form positive new habits. 5 simple steps to a healthier you: 1 -- Drink half your weight in water every day. Did you know that most people are dehydrated? Sodas and other drinks containing sugar or caffeine won't do it, you need filtered water. 2 -- Think of the color green. Green vegetables not only nourish your body, they also are almost always alkaline rather than acid. Eat mostly alkaline foods during your body detox diet rather than acid forming ones. 3 -- The body reacts to cooked food the same way it does to a virus, by raising the number of white blood cells. Raw foods or vegetables in their natural state is the way to go so you can help with the body detox diet. 4 -- You can deepen your cleanse with juice fasting, though it's better if you're in it for the long haul. It's much easier on your body to do the juice fasting once a week than for extended periods. And no sugary juices; use cucumber, celery, and sprouts in the juice. 5 -- Moving beyond a detox diet, well, you need to move. Resistance training with weights is one of the best ways to move your muscles, build strength and eliminate the toxins. But even getting out and walking is great. Get hot and sweaty and help your body eliminate the toxins. Have you heard that toxins can be stored in the body for many years? It is time to get them out. So how does the body do this? The body eliminates through all the exits it can find, including the all the skin and the nose. When we define a runny nose as being "sick", we try hard to stop it and in fact hamper the body from completing the process It's up to you to make your process as easy as possible.
