Cheap Outdoor Activities For The Winter

By: Tony Angelo..

Skiing and snowboarding are the most popular choices for outdoor winter activities, however, there are other great activities to participate in too. Snowshoeing, skating and tobogganing are just as much fun, whilst being significantly more affordable.

Lots of people have already experienced the exhilarating rush of flying down a hill on a a toboggan, but not since they were in their early teens. There is no reason to view it as simply kids fun though, as lots of winter sports resorts now have specialist tobogganing areas and slopes. It is a great way for adults and children to share time together having fun. So far as cost goes, there is a wide range of toboggans available for less than $20, and that is all the you need to participate.

Most winter resorts have either an ice ring, or a nearby lake that has frozen over with thick ice. You can learn the skills in less than an hour, and you will be doing spins and tricks in just half a day. Cheap skates can be purchased from stores that sell sports equipment, for around $20-30, and are a great investment as they can be used anytime throughout the year at local ice rings too.

Many winter resorts have special trails for snowshoeing for your enjoyment. Why do you need snowshoes to participate? Because strapping on them makes exploring snowy areas much easier, and you can therefore cover a lot more ground and experience more of the beautiful surroundings. While if you plan on purchasing your own pair of snowshoes it will cost you around $150, you can rent some at most resorts for a fraction of the cost - just $20 per day.

So, there is no need to let a shortage of money stop you from enjoying yourself in the snow!
