By: Graham McKenzie

The key to finding out if a music site is legal should require a small amount of research. Check into the interest site for legal concerns. There are some sites that promote themselves as being legal but in turn is a manipulation and are in no way abiding by the copy write rules.

A lot of assumptions are based on the price of music within a site. Although, in most cases this is true, sometimes you have to realize what you are paying for. For example if you join a music file sharing site, and you pay for getting a better version of a song downloaded. The copy write laws continue to be violated.

Many sites use a general description of the legal guidelines that must be followed. Just because you are given a tid bit of information does not mean the site you select lies within these guidelines.

This trademark means a portion of the payments you make to listen or download music compensates the record company. As long as you abide in this category there will be no legal obligations that will hold you liable for illegal downloads.

Finally, if you cannot find the RIAA logo anywhere on the site. There is the option of directly contacting this association. They will provide a list of legal sites for you.
