Olive Oil Facial Cleanser - OK, Where's the Hidden Camera?

Have you seen those great commercials touting olive oil facial cleansers? They make you want to run out and pick some up to try, don't they? Well, before you do that you just might want t o do a little more checking first. You see, these products may not be all they're cracked up to be. As a matter of fact, there are a number of reasons to exercise some caution.

Let's face it, a little common sense ought to tell you that in order to clean oil and dirt from your face, rubbing more oil on your face may not be the best thing to do. So, why would you believe that an olive oil facial cleanser would be any different?

If you want to refresh and revitalize the skin on your face, rubbing more oil on it probably isn't the best way to do it.

The sad truth is, instead of helping you accomplish your goal of cleaning you face, these cleansers may actually exacerbate the problem.

One of the few plant based oils that is not readily absorbed into your skin is Olive. It's more like mineral oil or petrolatum. These so-called moisturizing ingredients tend to lay on top of your skin as a greasy film, which can cause numerous problems.

Over time the film these, olive oil facial cleansers leave behind will build up and not only block your pores, but trap dirt in your pores. This greasy film actually services as a magnet to attract dirt to your skin.

Not quite the effect you were looking for?! Read on, it gets worse.

This dirt and grime trapped in your pores will eventually build up, causing blackheads and acne to form. To add insult to injury, the use of an olive oil facial cleanser, will make treating these irritations more difficult. This is because if you cant get the dirt out of the skin, you cant get topical treatments in, either.

In addition, olive oil facial cleansers have no antibacterial properties either, which may cause your skin to breakout. There are superior, naturally occurring ingredients that can be included in your cleanser that will enhance the health of your skin. You may wish to avoid olive oil based products, and look for those instead.

An olive oil facial cleanser just simply will not solve your facial cleanser needs. What you should look for is a cleanser that uses Avocado or Macadamia oils. As both these natural oils are much closer to our skins oils, and are readily absorbed by our skin. Because of this, they can penetrate deep into our skins layers, providing beneficial results. As an added bonus, both these oils are antioxidants!

Look for a cleanser that features New Zealand active Manuka honey. This naturally grown ingredient is known throughout the world for its antibacterial power, and is now being sought out by modern medicine to determine just how far reaching its healing properties may go.

Obviously, somebody must have thought that olive oil facial cleansers were a good direction in which to go, but there are considerably better choices you can make for yourself and your skin. Leave the olive oil where it belongs " in the kitchen.
