At last Sony are starting to make a definite play for the LED TV market via the Bravia range. I'm surprised they have been late adopters into this market! Maybe they felt they had to perfect their version of LED technology, but Sony rarely lag behind. Their latest range of Sony LED TVs with the Bravia brand now seem to be solving this little issue and in particular, the Sony EX700 LED TV range seems to be a real range of winners. The Sony Bravia EX700 52-Inch LED TV allows you to enjoy Full 1080p High Definition. With incredible contrast and smooth high motion picture performance the Sony BRAVIA EX700-Series LED HDTV is an outstanding LED TV. And, this all comes at a great price! It offers full internet connectivity so you can have a huge variety of movies, TV shows, videos and music using apps from Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, Slacker and more all at your fingertips. The internet is via both ethernet and wireless depending on your preference. So, I was overjoyed when my good Buddy, Pete went and got one! I was even more delighted when I got a call from him asking if I'd like to go round and have a sneak peek? What a silly question! My first impression? Wow, what an amazing picture! Pete took delivery of his Sony Bravia EX700 52-Inch LED TV a couple of weeks back and I immediately noticed the brilliantly beautiful picture. As with all LEDs the colors are vibrant and deep and the blacks have such incredible depth, I think the depth of black is what really helps "make" LED TV. And of course LED HD also ensures everything is super crisp and clean. So, we went into Pete's family room where he's set up his new Sony Bravia EX700 and I really liked his set up which helped to really bring out the best from the TV. He's got a Pioneer Elite SC-25 receiver, LG Blu-Ray, Boston Acoustics center and surround speakers. This is a great set up for a large'ish family sized room and watching Avatar on this set up was an amazing experience. The action sequences were clear and crisp and the colors vibrant, it was outstanding. It really demonstrated what the Sony EX700 52 Inch LED TV is capable of.So, drained from Avatar, I chatted to Pete over a coffee and he told me what he thought of his new favorite toy.Firstly he is delighted with his purchase. In particular he felt picture clarity and quality are excellent. He moved "up" to the Sony Bravia EX700 52 Inch LED TV from a Samsung 46 Inch LCD. His feeling was that the picture quality was only slightly better than his LCD. To be honest, I thought there was more of a positive difference than Pete did with the Bravia coming up very well. The colors appear to me to be brighter, more vivid and the picture is definitely crisper despite the screen being 6 inches bigger. Pictures from his Blu-Ray were unbelievable, sure Avatar is a great movie to demo with, but the full 1080p from the Blu-Ray totally enhanced experience and I'm pretty sure that is down in no small order to the way Sony Bravia EX700 52 Inch LED TV performs. The Connectivity Pack is really very good, you even get a free wireless dongle (Samsung take note)! Pete had got his set connected via his in-house LAN so I'm not sure what wireless capability was like, but feel sure it would be fine (I'm wireless at home and have not had any issues) Pete reckoned the LAN set up was a breeze although he is a tech-head so don't take that as read! Certainly HD video streaming was very good we watched for five minutes, but as it's not a true 1080p source the pictures weren't as good as HD TV pictures or the Blu-Ray.The Sony Bravia EX700 is a great looking piece of kit. The screen is surrounded by a beautiful high gloss black surround. I've no doubt it will be hard to keep clean but the design is great! And as with all LED TVs the Sony Bravia EX700 52 Inch LED TV has the benefit of far lower energy consumption. So savings and "green" too.On the downside, the base of the set is not the best, but John has it mounted on his own media center so no issue, I guess I may have been swayed by his comments and the fact that it looked a bit strange detached? Also the channel change time is slow particularly if switching between different resolution feeds. To sum up, Pete is really happy with his Sony Bravia EX700 52 Inch LED TV and the viewing experience it offers. His wife and kids love it to. This is Pete's first move to Sony LED TV and my first viewing of a Sony as well. Bottom line I was very impressed and the price versus performance offers real value for money and a great HD experience.
