A great baseball athlete and a good athlete are defined by discipline. Great baseball players are aware of the actions which they should take and those which they should not and they abide by this knowledge. This has particular significance regarding the foods that they eat. But maintaining such discipline is not quite as easily accomplished by the amateur baseball player and particularly by young boys with massive appetites. And this is more difficult in baseball tournament situations where many restaurants may be found serving savory fare, but perhaps not the most healthiest of food.

It is for this reason that it is greatly recommended that you make hotel reservations in advance, particularly because you also have many people to think about, such as the entire team, the coaches and the parents or chaperons. Nebraska Cornhuskers Legend Tom Osborne
By :
Freddie Brister
In the course of the last half century, there has not been a college football program that has seen more success in terms of wins than the Nebraska Cornhuskers. As one of only seven NCAA football programs to garner 800 or more wins in their history, the Cornhuskers have been a college football power for most of their 119 seasons, holding the fourth highest number of wins in Division 1 football. In addition, they have achieved five national championships, with three of those coming in the last quarter century. Those three national titles were earned under the guidance and tutelage of the legendary Thomas "Tom" Osborne, who coached the Nebraska Cornhuskers between 1973 and 1997.
Boise State Broncos - Blue Grass Dominance
By :
Freddie Brister
For the casual football fan whose experience with the college game may extend no farther than catching an occasional game with his buddies at the bar, Boise State's Broncos football team can cause quite a bit of consternation. As members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), they first captured the attention of much of the nation in the 2006-07 campaign. That season saw the Broncos go undefeated with 13 wins, and then beat the mighty Oklahoma Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl game. For the last several seasons, the Broncos have remained one of the best - and perhaps underrated - teams in the country. Even though they managed another undefeated 14 victory season in 2009, they were never seriously considered for title contention. Oddly enough, though, for most casual fans the Boise State football's team has not been the real attention-getter - it has been the fact that they play on a blue field!
Wisconsin Badgers Football - Barry Alvarez And The Badger Revival
By :
Freddie Brister
The Wisconsin Badgers have, from the beginning, been a football program where success and failure have come in waves. Though the team's overall 614-465 record is a positive one, it does not tell the entire story of Badger football - a tale that involves not only prolonged periods of success, but prolonged periods of failure as well. In the wake of their successful 1901 campaign, the Badgers went through a three and a half decade time of poor play that was only broken by their undefeated season in 1912. They nearly repeated that era of mediocrity with another after their defeat in the Rose Bowl of 1962 - another three decades of miserable results. However, the 1990 arrival of Barry Alvarez as Wisconsin's Head Coach would signal the return of the Badgers to national prominence.
Utah Utes - The BCS Sees Urban Renewal
By :
Freddie Brister
A lot of things have changed in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Bowl Championship Series over the last few years. With teams like Boise State and Texas Christian finally beginning to get their due as legitimate national title contenders, the major conferences with automatic BCS berths seem poised to lose their stranglehold on the championship title. To look at the true origins of the breakdown of that stranglehold, one need only go back to Urban Meyer's time as the coach of the Utah Utes. The Utes play in the Mountain West Conference, one of the smaller NCAA groupings that were not afforded the automatic berth provided to major conference teams when the BCS was first established. As a result, no team from a conference such as the MWC was invited to a BCS game - that is, until Urban Meyer arrived at the University of Utah.
Southern Cal Trojans - The Carroll Years
By :
Freddie Brister
The University of Southern California Trojans have been playing college football since 1888, and have been playing winning football for much of that history. Their regular domination of the teams in the Pacific-10 Conference has helped them to win a total of eleven national championships, while being in contention for many others. In addition, the team has been one of the most consistent over the last ten years, and has been a regular recipient of a top ten ranking in the major polls. They have spent much of that time in the top five of the AP and BCS polls. That decade coincided with the tenure of Pete Carroll, who brought a professional style of offense and defense to the college game when he was hired by the Trojans in the year 2000.
Georgia Bulldogs - Herschel Walker's Impact
By :
Freddie Brister.
One of the most successful college football programs in the history of the game has been the Bulldogs from the University of Georgia. With a winning percentage that equates to victories in almost two out of every three games they have ever played, the Bulldogs have traditionally occupied a position in the ratified atmosphere of college football's premier teams. Located in the SEC (Southeastern Conference), the Georgia teams have seen some less than stellar seasons in the last several years, though they remain competitive and are often among the twenty-five top programs in any given year. Many great players have played in their 90,000 seat capacity stadium in Athens - a stadium so large that only four North American stadiums surpass it in size -over the years, with one of the more recognizable of those players being the great Herschel Walker, running back for the Georgia teams of 1980, '81, and '82.
Texas Tech Red Raiders Football And Mike Leach
By :
Freddie Brister
Deep in the heart of the Big Twelve Conference the Texas Tech Raiders - otherwise known as "Tech" have been playing hard-nosed football since the year 1925. Given the importance of football in Texas, this should come as no surprise to any football fan anywhere. The program has not been a powerhouse on the national stage, but it has had a great degree of success within its conference affiliation, winning 11 conference titles and remaining competitive over the course of its existence. Over its long history, there is one period that definitely stands out when it comes to success, and that period was from 2001 until 2009 - a series of consecutive seasons that saw the Red Raiders of Texas Tech garner a winning season in every year. The oddest part of that is that their coach during that period was one of the rare coaches who had no experience playing the game.
Things you should know about the cheap softball bats
By :
Toby Rutherford
Many people confuse softball balls with regular baseball bats. It is not such a dire error as many use softball bats to play baseball. It has to be said that there is no differentiation between these bats in junior level baseball. The softball bats have the same structure as the baseball bats but they differ in certain attributes such as size and weight. Technology development has led to the production of a variety of cheap softball bats which can hit the ball into the crowd.
Miami Hurricanes - Premier College Football Miami Style
By :
Freddie Brister.
Fans of college football know all too well the quality of the teams that the University of Miami football program has fielded in the last several decades. Though the program had not won a national championship for most of its eighty-four year history, the early 1980s saw a change in fortunes that has lasted into recent years. The five championships won by Miami teams since 1983 (the Associated Press awarded them the title in 1984, with another four titles awarded through 2002) are bested only by the programs at three other schools. With two winners of the Heisman Trophy in their history, the Hurricanes have had an impact both as a team and in personal bests. Their 58 consecutive home wins was an NCAA record that no team has managed to surpass.
Arkansas Razorbacks - The Era Of Broyles
By :
Freddie Brister
They have been playing football at the University of Arkansas for more than a century - and they have been playing it well! In fact, when you calculate the percentage of wins versus games played, the Arkansas Razorbacks are among the 25 elite programs in the country, with victories in excess of 650 and losses that have not yet reached 450. During its time in the defunct Southwest Conference, the Razorbacks were winners of the conference a total of thirteen times - a clear indication of the quality of their program. More than half of those Conference titles were earned under the leadership of the man who coached the Razorbacks for nearly two decades beginning in 1958: Frank Broyles.
Alabama - The Crimson Tide's "Bear" Bryant
By :
Freddie Brister
If you're a fan of college football, you have no doubt heard of the "Bear" - the now-legendary Coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, who spent a full twenty-five years patrolling the sidelines of every Alabama game. Some would say that coaching at Alabama would be one of the easiest tasks in the sport, given the program's status as an elite power in the NCAAS. With a total of 13 NCAA titles, a host of conference titles, and more bowl appearances than you can shake a stick at, Alabama football has seemingly always been about winning. Paul Bryant was an important part of that history, as he was responsible for leading the teams that acquired six of those titles while also breaking the Alabama color barrier. Perhaps more than any other coach in Alabama history, the Bear left his own distinct impression on the program.
